ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS BATTLE THE BAY DU NORD OIL PROJECT IN COURT AND BEFORE THE NORWEGIAN PUBLIC
A number of protesters gathered in May to voice their opposition to the approval of the Bay du Nord oil project in front of the Equinor offices in Newfoundland and Labrador. Environmental organisations continue to oppose the Bay du Nord offshore oil project in Newfoundland even after the federal government approved it months ago. They are taking the business to court and their offices in Norway. Opponents of the project anticipate that Equinor, a state-owned Norwegian firm accountable to the nation's citizens, would pay closer attention to the escalating climate concerns about the extraction of fossil fuels.
