Democracies on every continent are engaged in an uphill battle to ensure their continued survival, while autocrats work to strengthen their hold on power. Why does the main style of administration in Western countries tend to engender such a sense of unhappiness among the population of such nations? Is democracy the kind of government that the vast majority of people really want to have authority over them?
