COVID-19 IS DOWNGRADED TO THE SAME CATEGORY AS THE FLU IN THAILAND

Thailand: In October, Thailand will designate COVID-19 as a "dangerous" communicable illness that "requires monitoring" as the viral situation in the country starts to settle.

Anutin Charanvirakul, Thailand's health minister, claims that this revision will move Covid-19 from the same level as plague and smallpox to influenza and dengue, reflecting the reality of Thailand's condition.

In a statement, Anutin claimed that the choice was a reflection of how prepared Thailand's healthcare system is, how easily people can receive care, and how appropriately people behave when it comes to self-defence. He claims that Thailand will also alter its pandemic management plan to allow private hospitals to purchase antiviral medications without going via the government "soon."

Last week, officials expected that major Covid-19 cases and fatalities in Thailand should start to fall by the middle of August. On July 1st, Thailand removed practically all travel restrictions including the need for outside masks.

As of mid-October, everyone who has had at least two immunizations will be allowed to utilise a new COVID-19 vaccine that is known to be effective against the Omicron variant, according to a Monday announcement from the Japanese government.

According to reports, the bivalent vaccination, which combines components from the current COVID-19 injections and the BA.1 subtype of the Omicron variation, increases neutralising antibodies against the BA.5 subtype, which is a frequent subtype at the moment. across the nation.

The extremely contagious BA.5 subtype is the primary cause of the seventh wave of infections presently occurring in Japan. About 250,000 new instances were recorded daily as of late Wednesday.

If the health ministry gives its official permission, the vaccine—which is being produced by US pharmaceutical behemoths Pfizer Inc. and Moderna Inc.—could be imported into the nation in September.

The identical bivalent vaccines that Japan is contemplating deploying are already authorised in Europe, and preparations are already being made for more immunizations to begin in the fall.

Contrarily, the US Food and Drug Administration urges pharmaceutical firms to use BA.5 subtype components when creating vaccines.
