SELLING ILLEGAL BUNKER FUEL FOR TEN ARE DETAINED IN SINGAPORE

 On suspicion of unlawfully selling bunker fuel, Singaporean police have detained ten people.


In conjunction with the Singapore Maritime and Port Authority, police officers from the Coast Guard made the arrests on August 4. On a tugboat carrying the Singaporean flag, six of the crew men were employed, and another tug flying a different flag employed the other six.


Investigations thus far indicate that the Singapore tug crew members sold Marine Gas Oil to the foreign-registered tug without the knowledge of their employer. The tugs were taken as evidence, along with roughly $6,000 (SGD 8,000) in cash.

A maximum term of 15 years in prison and a fine might be imposed on the crew of the tugboat flying the Singaporean flag. A possibility
