STRONG TIES WITH EU

 

Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, said on Thursday that his nation anticipates a stronger degree of engagement between the two organisations in the years to come. He made this statement during a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. He emphasised the need of maintaining high-level meetings between Pakistan and the European Union as a means of further boosting the expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

In order to further strengthen the connection that exists between the two nations, this was carried out. Dr. Riina Kionka, who was just recently appointed to her position as EU Ambassador to Pakistan, recently made a courtesy call on Pakistan's Prime Minister. There was a discussion between the two leaders here. He said that Pakistan put a great premium on its ties with the EU as well as its long-standing, positive bilateral links with the countries that make up the EU. He also stated that these connections were very important to Pakistan.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his confidence that the upcoming visits to Pakistan by an EU Parliamentary delegation as well as the subsequent rounds of political and security dialogues under the EU-Pakistan Strategic Engagement Plan would pave the way for more substantial cooperation between the two countries. Both of these events are scheduled to take place in the near future. He praised GSP-Plus for increasing Pakistan's trade with the EU. He thought Pakistan will stay in 2023. Shehbaz emphasised a peaceful Afghanistan. Dr. Kionka thanked the prime minister for welcoming her and promised to strengthen EU-Pakistan collaboration.
