THAILAND STRENGTHENS ONLINE COLLABORATION

 

The Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to advance the fields of information, communication, and digital technology, according to Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DES).

By promoting collaboration based on the tenets of equality, reciprocity, mutual respect, and mutual gain for both sides, the MoC in the field of information, communication, and digital technology hope to advance this field.

The MoC will also encourage the application of information and communication technologies as well as related data in the fields of weather monitoring and catastrophe risk reduction. Along with these topics, it also discusses the utilisation of 5G, security, and encouraging Japanese ICT businesses to invest in Thailand.

Similarly, collaboration under the ASEAN-Japan Centre to develop cybersecurity personnel. Knowledge sharing, innovation, services, and applications of personnel development in the sphere of information technology, communication, and digital.

The MOC in Technology and Digital Innovation for Transformation, on the other hand, aims to encourage collaboration and the exchange of experiences to maintain and grow an ecosystem for transformational innovation between the two countries.

To strengthen collaborations and exchange best practices and expertise, the MoC framework encourages cooperation among key stakeholders, including universities, commercial companies, and communities.

Both nations agreed to carry out the tasks outlined in the two MoCs and to continue talking about pertinent strategies and initiatives.

DES Assistant Minister Newin Chochaitip thanked the Romanian government for being chosen to host the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2022, which will take place from September 26 to October 14, 2022. A delegation from Thailand will attend the event, and Dr Nattapon Natthasomboon, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Digital Affairs, will attend on behalf of the ministry.
