THE 2022 BRICS GAMES IN CHINA WILL BE STREAMED ONLINE

According to Chinese organisers, an online version of the Brics Games will promote intercultural dialogue and secure interpersonal interactions.

The 2022 Brics Games will begin on September 1 with competitions and displays of breakdancing, chess, and wushu, organised by China as the host of the 14th BRICS Summit in June (Chinese martial arts). The multisport competition will react to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic by holding all competitions online.

Professional and amateur athletes from each of the five Brics nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—will compete in the Games.

On Wednesday, China opened the official website for the competition, which serves as a hub for registration, video submissions, scoring, judging, and results.

Participants in the wushu and breakdancing events will have their uploaded performances judged by expert committees in a variety of categories. Live chess matches between competitors will be broadcast on chess.com.

Competitions' official registration opens on August 15.

On the website, there is also a section devoted to traditional sports and workouts from each of the five Brics countries, including yoga from India, dragon boat racing from China, and jiujitsu from Brazil. On the platform, enthusiasts can share routines and practise videos with one another.

In his capacity as a delegate of the organising committee, China's Sports Minister Gao Zhidan greeted competitors from the Brics nations and praised the games as a spectacular occasion that fostered camaraderie and respect.

Gao stated in a speech that was published on the 2022bricsgames.com official website that "sport is a unique and vital aspect of Brics people-to-people exchanges."

"Brics sports collaboration and exchange have gotten deeper over the past five years. The BRICS Games and the Brics Sports Ministers' Meeting have evolved into marquee events for the organisation. Brics sports cooperation actively promotes traditional sports culture, advances sports growth, and deepens intercultural understanding and friendship.
