THE PRICE OF NATURAL GAS HAS INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY IN BOTH THE US AND THE EU DURING THE PAST YEAR
The cost of natural gas for US consumers has increased by more than treble in the last year. According to the Energy Information Administration EIA, natural gas generates around 38% of the electricity used in the US.
Additionally, natural gas is used to heat both the water and space in nearly half of the homes in the US.
As the US LNG export plant quickly restarts, natural gas prices rise.

After a crucial Texas export facility and regulators came to terms to resume operations as soon as October after an explosion, natural gas prices in the US shot up.
According to an agreement reached with the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, Freeport LNG, which was shut down in June following an explosion, will restart operations in early October at nearly full capacity. That would increase the demand for natural gas by around 2 billion cubic feet per day, or about 2% of domestic output.
The US supplies of the fuel for heating and power generation are expected to be put under more stress as winter approaches with the resumption of Freeport LNG. Prices have more than doubled this year as a result of the nauseating volatility caused by tight supply. The amount of gas stored in salt caverns and depleted aquifers is around 12% below seasonal average levels, and this summer's high domestic demand has made it difficult for providers to increase storage levels.
The EU is having trouble obtaining gas due to sanctions and the defunct Nord Stream II pipeline from Russia to Europe.
RFI documents Le Pen, the leader of the French far right, calls for an end to the "useless" sanctions against Russia.
Le Pen stated at a press conference held in front of lawmakers on Tuesday, "I want these sanctions to cease. Europe will experience a blackout in the absence of Russian gas imports, in particular. Simply said, the sanctions are pointless. They only ever cause suffering for Europeans. And incidentally, that includes citizens of France.
