A KOREAN GROUP VISITS WASHINGTON TO CONDUCT US IRA NEGOTIATIONS.
According to Foreign Ministry on Monday they stated that the South Korean government is planning to sending a group of negotiators to Washington to address the US Inflation Reduction Act, which plans to disallows tax benefits for electric vehicles made outside of North America.
According to the US Inflation law they decided to eliminate tax breaks for EVs made in Korea. And as per the act signed by US President Joe Biden they passed a law stating that the batteries and battery components used in Evs to be produced in the US.
As per the Senior government authorities such as Director general for bilateral economic affairs at the foreign ministry, and A Deputy minister for international trade and legal affairs are part of the trip. According to the Foreign Ministry, they will visit Washington from Monday to Wednesday to meet with representatives of the US administration and Congress.
The ministry stated that the authorities will be visiting the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Commerce, and other agencies for the need for flexible law enforcement.
In order to analyse the situation and talk about potential measures for government support, senior authorities will also arrange a discussion with Korean auto and battery businesses In US operations.
