EARTHQUAKE SHAKEN IN THE SUMATRA ISLAND OF INDONESIA LEFT PEOPLE IN PANIC SITUATION

 


According to the Nation’s Geophysics authorities they stated that On Monday the third earthquake shaken the region, Strike off the shore of Sumatra Island in Indonesia with the magnitude of 6.1.

According to the Indonesia’s meteorological and Geophysics service (BMKG) they just observed a shallow earthquake at Mentawai island at the west cost of Sumatra around 10:30 am. And they also stated that earthquake didn’t generated any tsunami warning.

According to the BMKG authorities report they stated that first they observed 6.4 magnitude then which reduced to 6.1 magnitude.

As per the authorities report they stated that they experienced three consecutive earthquakes on the same day on Monday in quick successions. First, they observed 5.2 magnitude tremor which occurred before day dawn and then less than an hour later they experienced another quake at 5.4 magnitude.

According to a statement from the disaster service team they stated that the residentials of the Mentawai islands, the province capital of Padang, and the neighbouring hilly region of Bukitinggi all reported that they experienced the 6.1-magnitude earthquake strongly for many seconds.

As per the agency they reported that Siberut island had many structural damages but no residentials injury report was submitted.

A Mentawai disaster administrator told Reuters that a nearby church, school, and medical center had suffered minor structural damages. People had been evacuated from various villages to higher ground.

The disaster agency issued a call to calm down and issued a warning about the possibility of aftershocks.
