RACIST ATTACK IN TEXAS INDIAN AMERICAN GROUPS FLEW A RED FLAG IN RESPONSE
The recent reports of four women of Indian heritage being harassed and attacked in Plano, Texas, using racial epithets, have startled the Indian American community. Several Indian American organisations have criticised the incident, which was captured on camera in a popular video of four friends arguing in a suburban parking lot after a cordial dinner gathering.

The Indian American community in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where Plano is a major city, is strong and will only get stronger, according to Arun Agarwal, president and co-founder of the Indian America CEO (IACEO) Council, a Dallas, Texas-based organization that facilitates alliances between India and the US. The goal of IACEO Council is to improve our community. Our most recent research demonstrates the important role that the Indian American population has had in the growth of the economy in this area of north Texas. All of the victims of the incident are very accomplished women who give back significantly to the neighbourhoods where they live and work. They don't deserve to be humiliated in this way, and neither does anyone else, Agarwal added. He applauded the community's efforts to support the attack victims as well as law enforcement's swift response.
Importantly, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson established an anti-hate advisory group last year in response to data showing an increase in hate crimes both in Dallas and across the US.
