TOP GENERAL ISSUES WARNING THAT RUSSIA COULD ESCALATE THE SITUATION IN UKRAINE

 

According to a top German general, Russia has the ability to escalate the conflict in Ukraine, and the West should not undervalue its military might.

General Eberhard Zorn, the head of Germany's defense ministry, stated on Wednesday (Thursday, AEST) that should Russia choose to do so, a second front could be opened.

The majority of the Russian land forces may be confined to Ukraine at the moment, but Zorn cautioned against underestimating their ability to launch a second theater of conflict.

Since the beginning of the six-month-old war, Russian forces have been occupying the complex, which is managed by Ukrainian engineers.

While Moscow accuses Ukraine of firing carelessly at the location, Kiev claims that Russia is using the factory as a shield, storing weapons there and launching strikes from surrounding it.

On Wednesday morning, the UN convoy of vans and SUVs eventually left Kyiv early and arrived in the afternoon in Zaporizhzhia, which is still some 120 kilometers away from the facility. The team would spend the night in the city, according to Ukrainian authorities, and try to enter the plant on Thursday.
