The 96-year-old monarch of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II, was put under medical observation on Thursday as her family hurried to Scotland to be by her side.

Following more testing this morning, the Queen's doctors expressed worry about her health and suggested she stay under medical monitoring, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.

The beloved national icon "remained at ease" at Balmoral, the Scottish castle where she spends her summers, it was noted.
